Chapter Eleven

Henry

Henry walked through his front door with his head held high and his omega's hand in his. At what point Will had gone from an omega to his omega, he wasn't sure, but it was obvious to him now. Will was his to protect for as long as Will would allow him. Henry’s body rebelled against the idea that Will might not want him around for the rest of their lives, but Henry did what he could to simply not think about that since there would be no coming to terms with it. He made a mental note to talk to his father when he got home.

"Henry!"

Which was apparently, right at that moment, since that was his father's voice hollering for him.

"Henry! Get your ass in—" Henry's father stopped speaking just about the moment he spotted Will standing behind Henry's right shoulder clutching his hand like it was the only thing keeping him on the ground. Henry quite liked the feel of Will's hand in his. "It's true?" he nearly screeched at a tone and pitch that was very un-alphalike.

Henry didn't feel nervous or guilty about what he had done. He'd been protecting what needed protected. Henry could have stood there for hours and endured his father's bickering, but he didn't want Will getting any ideas about running away for the greater good.

Henry lifted his hand, and his father stopped speaking, though most likely it was out of surprise than anything else. "I can only assume you heard what happened. Well, most of it is probably true. I did barge into Will's apartment, and I did strike his father. But Will was being hurt, Father. And I couldn't abide by it. He is staying with me until we can figure something suitable for him." Henry only added that last part so Will wouldn't freak out. What he wanted to say was that Will would be staying with him. Period. The end. "You are the alpha of this home though, and if you don't want him here, I'll understand. But I am going with him. Wherever that ends up being." Henry gave Will's hand a reassuring squeeze as he waited for his parent to decide.

Henry’s dad joined them, coming down the stairs with a concerned expression. He caught sight of Will and frowned. He stopped in the spot beside his mate and a little behind him. They were so well matched, a mated pair, that often his father and dad spoke volumes without saying anything out loud. When Henry was a child, he had thought they could read his mind as well. He learned later in his life that what they had was simply a product of years of communication and trust and from that moment, he hoped to have the same thing with his future mate.

"Of course, Will is welcome, honey," Henry's dad said. "Your father and I are simply worried. Mr. Baudlin said he was going to sue, that he had called the police."
